   The Asch Effect: How To Be İn Herd Mentalıty Experiment

 Have you ever thought of yourself being under pressure of the majority? probably you had. So, imagine somebody paid you some money and said that you would be in a visual perception experiment and put you in a group of people and asked: Which one is equal to left stick?

  You would probably choose C here as an acceptable choice so as the other volunteers and they ask again this question with different sticks and again everybody gives the relevant answer.

  Whereas, at the third time things will be changed because other volunteers do give not proper answers as you see in the chart they choose 2 so you would doubt yourself and you wouldn't like to be the black sheep so even if you knew that the answer was 3 would you choose 3 or would you choose 2? In my opinion, you wouldn't because you wouldn't be in your comfort zone and most importantly research shows that even if you lie people choose to be in or part of the group.

WHAT İS THİS ASCH EXPERİMENT

   
The experiment which briefly defined is made by pychologist Solomon Asch in the 1950s. It is an experiment that tries to understand how important the influence of the majorty of group in the desicion making process of a person. It is also known as "comformity experiment"

As a final result there is a very interesting thing. nearly  75% of the participants in the conformity experiments went along with the rest of the group at least one time. 25% of the group did not went along with others.

32% of the real participants who came to their turn to answer stated that they agreed with the answer given by the group, even if it was wrong.

So, this is end of our blog you can apply to your life this experiment. Think yourself a party everybody wants to drink fanta, but you want to drink ice tea but you choose to drink fanta for not mixing the group dynamic.
